Ranbir Kapoor has been voted the sexiest man in Asia

In a poll conducted by London based weekly magazine Eastern Eye, Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor has been voted the sexiest man in Asia, moving past other hunks from the Hindi film industry
like Hrithik Roshan and John Abraham.

Responding in a statement to the media after being awarded with the title of the sexiest Asian man, Ranbir Kapoor said that he was overwhelmed by the fact that he has so many female followers around the world. Known to be a lady's man, the actor said that if women stopped loving him, he would definitely start having doubts on himself!

Ever since he entered Bollywood filmdom, Ranbir Kapoor has been the subject of an affair with several leading actresses in the industry including Sonam Kapoor, Deepika Padukone and the most recent Katrina Kaif. What's more, Ranbir Kapoor has also admitted to the fact that he is a playboy in real life and enjoys variety when it comes to women! It is strange that even this admission has not stopped his female fans drooling over the 28 year old Kapoor lad.

In a statement to the media, Asjad Nazir, the editor of Eastern Eye says that unlike the other years, Ranbir Kapoor has won by a clear majority in the votes conducted to determine the sexiest man in Asia this year. While John Abraham and Hrithik Roshan stand in second and third positions respectively, Ranbir Kapoor has secured a huge number of votes when compared to them. Also heard that the same magazine has also voted Katrina Kaif, Ranbir Kapoor's rumored lady love, the hottest female celebrity of 2010. The forthcoming Toronto International Film Festival will have a strong Indian presence

The forthcoming Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), starting Sep 10, will have a strong Indian presence - while two mainstream Bollywood films 'Dil Bole Hadippa' and 'What's Your Rashee?' will have their world premieres, Dilip Mehta's 'Cooking With Stella' has been selected for a screening in the prestigious Gala section.

Jon Amiel's "Creation", a bio-pic on Charles Darwin, is also being premiered in the same section where Dilip's film is being screened and he says he is thrilled by the honour.

"The Toronto International Film Festival is, after Cannes, undoubtedly the most significant festival worldwide. To have one's film participate in it is glory enough, but to have a gala screening and a world premiere is mind-blowing," Dilip, brother of Canada-based Indian filmmaker Deepa Mehta, told IANS.

"For me, as first-time feature director this was such a tremendous high to have our film in the company of such an amazing film. 'Creation' nipped us all in the post but we were right up there. TIFF selected 'Cooking With Stella' for a gala screening for our world premiere on September 16th.

"The numbers are daunting. Approximately 3,000 plus films are submitted for the festival. Of these about 350 are selected of which 15 or so have the distinction of a gala screening at the amazing Roy Thomson Hall," he added.

This was the very section where Deepa's elegiac "Water" that had Lisa Ray, John Abraham and Seema Biswas in lead roles had been premiered. While "Water" focussed on the difficult lives of widows in the 1930s, Dilip's film is in a different mood space.

"For 34 years, I have covered death, misfortune, war, plagues and other human tragedies for Time, Newsweek, National Geographic and other such major journals. I entered the world of cinema with 'The Forgotten Woman', a hard documentary to portray the reality of the widows of India.

"Similarly 'Cooking With Stella' also looks at a classic Indian tragedy, that of servants and employers
but without wanting to give a lecture on morality."

While filmmaker Ashutosh Gowariker's "What's Your Raashee?" stars Priyanka Chopra and Hurman Baweja, "Dil Bole Hadippa" is Anurag Singh's directorial debut. Produced by Yash Raj Films, it stars Rani Mukerji and Shahid Kapoor. Both the films are female-centric.

Apart from screenings, Indian actresses Seema Biswas and Shriya Saran will walk the red carpet.

Desi version of Maid in Manhattan!

Star One and Cinevistaa is coming up with a new show called Kya Yehi Pyaar Hai, very soon with a unique love story.

With this show Siddharth Shukla who rose to fame as Shubh in Babul Ka Aangan Chootey Na is making his comeback as a lead again.

“It’s going to be more or less on the lines of Maid in Manhattan where you learn that the bigger your dreams, the better the chance they might come true. Yes Siddharth has been finalized to play the lead, where he will essay the role of an hotelier, a filthy rich guy with the correct attitude,” says the source from the production house.

Talking about the female lead, our source adds, “We have short listed few names in which the prominent ones are Gunjan Walia of Betiyaan and Neha Jhulka. Though the hunt is still on for the same, but if we are not able to get any good face, we may take either of the one.”

“The shooting for the show has not yet started as we are yet to finalize the full casting. The hunt is going on a fast track as we are planning to come on air by October,” concludes the source.

We called Gunjan to confirm the news. “I am out of town,” was the reply from the actress, while Siddharth was unavailable for any comments.

Kya Yehi Pyaar Hai audience ka bhi for this show, well that would be decided once it comes on air. For now keep watching this space for more information on the same.
